in support of The Holistic Life Foundation, a Baltimore based 501(c)3 non-profit organization committed to nurturing the wellness of children and adults in underserved (at risk) communities through the practice of yoga, mindfulness and self-care.”

We’ll be delighting in Raw and Cooked vegan dishes and focusing on Eating for Healing with Anti-Inflammatory Foods.    We will sample:

Raw Everything Bagels with Cashew Cream Cheese; Raw Coconut Curry Soup
Raw Cultured Vegetable Salad; Raw Jicama/Pineapple Salsa
Gluten Free Raw Spaghetti with No-mato Sauce
Shepherd’s Pie with mashed No-tatoes and Smokey Lentils
Raw Mango Chia Pudding w/ fresh berries; Raw Cherry-Almond Cobbler

People are labelled from birth in gender categories. The vast majority of persons have no issue with this, and never give it a second thought. For a few, however, the assigned gender label simply doesn’t work – yet almost no one they interact with will tolerate such an “outrageous” notion. As a result, many transgender persons find that their lives are deeply dissonant, full of profound suffering, sometimes to the point of being unbearable.

03/23/2014 at Noon: Talk on the Rape Survivors Support project in Burundi

Rosalie Dance will talk about the Friends Women’s Association and their Rape Survivors Support project. The Friends Women’s Association operates a medical facility in Burundi. The clinic provides care to HIV+ women and delivers basic medical treatment to the general population.

The Friends Women’s Association is part of the African Great Lakes Initiative (AGLI.) AGLI strengthens, supports, and promotes peace activities at the grassroots level in the Great Lakes region of Africa (Burundi, Congo, Kenya, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Uganda).

02/23/2014 at Noon: Recent Travels to Central America

Better Hoover presents again! Bette Rainbow Hoover has been working for peace with justice in Central America since she founded CASA de Maryland www.casademaryland.org in 1985.
