4/28/2013, Noon – 3 pm A Springtime Cooking for Peace Workshop

Bethanne led another Cooking for Peace workshop, this one to benefit The Samaritan Women.  This organization, located in Baltimore, “serves women of trauma and trafficking, to help them realize the full life that God has planned for their lives.” Amanda Grant, community coordinator for the Samaritan Women, told us that rescuing victims of human trafficking is the easy part. The afternoon interest session, designed by our Mental Health Ministry, focused on Quakerism and mental health. Historically, Friends have been in the forefront of reforming prisons and mental health hospitals. The need is still great. Where do we stand now?
